Jim Baynton is the Senior Consulting Designer at Artistic Kitchens & Baths. Jim has over 30 years experience as a designer. An expert in Wood-Mode/Brookhaven custom cabinetry, Jim designs and consults for AKB. Jim developed and implements the on-line cabinetry training program required of all Wood-Mode/Brookhaven designers. Jim designs kitchens for Artistic Kitchens & Baths in multiple locations including Raleigh, Southern Pines, Fayetteville, Pinehurst, Sanford, and Chapel Hill.![]()

A graduate of N.C. State University, Whitney has over 10 years of design expertise. She spent a number of years in retail management before turning her talents to the kitchen and bath industry. Whitney possesses a practical sense of style adapted to sophisticated and unique solutions. Whitney takes great pride in her ability to complement her cabinetry design with other design elements and a fun friendly personality. She has executed designs and managed projects for a number of Raleigh's elite builders and developers as well as leading local interior design firms. Whitney is a Wood-Mode design specialist. ![]()

David Botts, CGP - Raleigh Manager

Mr. Botts oversee's the Raleigh design studio and manages the companies project management, IT, marketing, and sales needs. A graduate of N.C. State University, Mr. Botts has extensive experience in IT-related systems and customer service programs. David also provides advice on granite, quartz, appliance, and lighting selection and is the company's liaison and official representative with local Home Builder Associations and national industry organizations. He is a Certified Green Professional and brings over 50 hours of leadership training to the team. Mr. Botts was formerly a program director for the Wake County YMCA, where he served for over seven years.
Wilson Koontz, Sales Manager

Mr. Koontz is a 2010 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. As the AKB outside sales manager, Wilson interacts in the field with clients and generates relationships with prospective valued customers. Mr. Koontz coordinates outside sales to assist our designers in both the Raleigh and Southern Pines markets.

Mike worked with his father in construction before attending Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C. in 1994. Returning to Tampa, Florida to run and operate GoJac Cabinetry, Mike learned the many aspects of the cabinetry business. Upon his return to North Carolina, Mike worked for five years in a Raleigh cabinetry company before joining the AKB team. Mike works as a custom cabinetry installer and performs many construction related projects for AKB.

John C. Wilson

Mr. Wilson serves as President and manages the day-to-day operations of the business. His responsibilities encompass operational oversight of the business, customer relationships and vendor relationships. A retired leading Wall Street investment banker at Credit Suisse, he advised on transactions worth over $300 billion during his career. Prior to his Wall Street endeavors, Mr. Wilson spent over 23 years in industry, primarily at Hardees Food Systems, where he rose to the position of CFO and was a member of the Board of Directors. He has advised and managed other smaller companies during his 35 year career. Mr. Wilson was a founding member and president of the Triangle's largest production-builder cabinet company where he grew revenue by 60% before leaving to start Artistic Kitchens & Baths.

Mrs. Wilson is vice president and chief administrative officer. She has extensive experience in education and media development. Prior to her retirement as Professor at Sandhills Community College, she developed a web-based Social Sciences distance learning program. She also founded and was the initial president of the Companion Animal Clinic Foundation in Moore County. This successful business venture was created to facilitate low-cost spays and neuters of companion animals for people who cannot afford traditional private veterinary medicine. As part of this endeavor, Mrs. Wilson raised over $500,000 of start-up capital, organized the business, recruited and presided over the independent board of directors, and managed the strategic planning process.![]()
